Exemplar was one of the UK’s leading property development companies. We started back in 2013, but in 2018 we decided to take a break for a while, at least until Brexit is out of the way. We’ve left our website here though for you to see what we were all about.

Since inception in 2003 up until our pause in 2018, Exemplar worked on over 30 projects, totalling in excess of 5 million sq ft, winning numerous accolades and awards along the way. Our ongoing success was due to a fundamental belief in the value of enduring partnership and design, and a genuine desire to achieve perfection.

We were fortunate to have worked all around the United Kingdom, from London to Edinburgh and from Cambridge to Dublin. Whilst the majority of our projects were located in Central London and the South East, there is something particularly exciting about introducing the exemplar style to new markets.
Exemplar was renowned as one of London’s most active and successful commercial property developers. We applied a fanatical attention to detail tied to a forensic understanding of occupiers needs and aspirations.
Amongst others we built the London headquarters for Rio Tinto, Blackrock, Addleshaw Goddard, Estee Lauder and most recently the new EMEA headquarters for golden circle lawyers Ashurst.
We have developed in some of the world’s most famous locations including Regent Street, St James’s Square and the City of London.
We believe the best and most successful residential developments are founded in a thorough understanding of the location, market and importantly the anticipated purchaser. The application of this knowledge in a considered and, at all times, thoughtful way lends to the creation of homes of real quality, grounded in their local context and in tune with the market.
Our most recent residential projects include 14 apartments in St James’s Square, 295 at Fitzroy Place in Fitzrovia and an exclusive town house just off Regent Street.
There is an understated art in knowing how to integrate different uses together and Exemplar were one of the first major UK property developers to master this. Being a truly multi-disciplinary developer, we appreciated the synergies offered by integrating residents, workers and visitors together at our projects, and always designed such projects right from the outset to ensure a positive balance of all. Our flagship mixed use project, Fitzroy Place, combined 295 residential units at all value levels, 225,000 sq ft of offices, and numerous retail and restaurant units and is widely recognised as the archetypal model of a mixed use scheme.
Exemplar was multi-award winning, with both our business and our projects winning numerous accolades. We were the only privately owned development company to ever have won “Office Property Company of the Year” awarded by the Estates Gazette, and some of our most recent projects at 10 New Burlington Street and One Fitzroy Place were recipients of “West End Development of the Year” and “West End Deal of the Year” respectively. Testament indeed to our fantastic professional and construction teams.
