One hundred years ago the poet Dylan Thomas was born and to mark the centenary of his birth a series of performances and events will take place in his old stomping ground, Fitzrovia.
Dylan Thomas in Fitzrovia runs from 20th -26th October, the eve of Dylan’s birth, and Fitzroy Place is delighted to sponsor the eponymously named festival which includes performances, concerts, dance, interactive walks, readings, film showings, exhibitions and installations. With brand new music and drama created for the occasion, and plenty of food and drink, the festival will celebrate Dylan’s rich, rollicking life and his blazing talent. The festival will culminate in a gala performance for Dylan at the Dominion Theatre with an array of talent from the musical and performing worlds.
Patrons of the festival include Sir Patrick Stewart, Sian Phillips CBE, Jonathan Pryce CBE, Owen Sheers and Griff Rhys Jones who commented “It is excellent news that Fitzroy Place are supporting, in a real and concrete form, the Dylan Thomas in Fitzrovia Festival, breaking out from 20th October. We are grateful. The festival will benefit hugely. And anyone coming to live in Fitzroy Place will experience what a vibrant and culturally significant quarter they are joining. Brilliant.”
