On a beautiful evening on 12 May 2016 the public square was closed off to host the official opening event at Fitzroy Place.
The event was attended by many who had been involved or participated in its development along with residents, occupiers, neighbours and representatives from Westminster City Council. Councillor Robert Davis MBE DL, Deputy Leader of Westminster City Council cut the ribbon to mark the official completion of this landmark development.
Many gathered in the square to hear Exemplar Co-Founder Daniel Van Gelder and Cllr Davis speak and give thanks. A fantastic atmosphere was created with live music, BBQ and bar provided by the on-site Percy & Founders restaurant along with juices and cakes provided by The Detox Kitchen.
The remarkable Fitzrovia Chapel provided the perfect backdrop to this delightful occasion, and provided some historic context to how far this site had come in the last six years since we became involved.
Above all it was a wonderful opportunity for us to catch up and thank all those who had played a part in the delivery of Fitzroy Place over the years. Those involved in its creation also enjoyed engaging with those who now occupy and enjoy many of its various parts on a daily basis.
