At Drapers Gardens in the City of London, Exemplar has completed one of the City’s largest office redevelopments of recent years. This commenced with the demolition of an outdated 1960s tower building, the tallest structure ever demolished in the City. There then followed a carefully planned and executed archaeological dig, involving at one point over 80 archaeologists, which ensured that one of the most significant finds in recent memory was recorded and preserved. Despite the magnitude of the finds there was no impact on the programme. The project required close liaison with a number of local stakeholders and occupiers, Livery Companies and the City of London Corporation.
We then commenced construction of the new 290,000 sq ft building, designed by award winning architects, Foggo. The building was completed on programme and within budget and was successfully let at completion as the new UK Headquarters for Blackrock. The new building offers efficient, large floor plates attractive to the banking sector with multiple rooftop terraces and retail facilities. The building has strong environmental credentials and achieved an “Excellent” BREEAM rating and EPC assessment of “B”.
